Hosted at SMFA/Tufts University, Boston, Massachusetts
July 30 - August 12
The 2018 summer East Coast Preview Portfolio Development Institute (PDI) is a unique 14-day program in the United States combining 6 days of intensive portfolio development courses and a week of college visits.
Created especially for rising juniors and seniors from High School Art programs, PDI helps students become better informed and better qualified applicants for future study in the US, Canada or Europe. Participating students arrive in Boston on Sunday July 29, 2018 and leave from Washington DC on Sunday August 12th. PDI is designed for students who aspire to study visual art, design, architecture and related arts. Students will improve and develop their portfolio, and will have the opportunity to meet with representatives and faculty from some of the top art and design colleges in the world.
The first half of the program is hosted on the campus of Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Students will attend 6 days of intensive studio art classes, get portfolio reviews from SMFA staff and will visit art colleges, museum and tourist attractions in Boston.
In the second half of the program, students will visit prestigious art schools in Boston, Providence, New York City, Philadelphia & Baltimore. Students will get tours of the colleges, learn about admissions requirements and will meet with representatives for individual portfolio reviews and receive personal feedback on their work and advice on how to improve and edit their portfolio.
